If you have an application that can take advantage of 8k, it's well worth the price. Medical, photography, animation, etc... There was a review on Ars where they used it to play games at 8k and it...

price per pixel doesn't scale linearly... It is much harder to make a 8K monitor than a 4K monitor.

That is too much for such monitor. Dell Ultrasharp 32" with 4K resolution is about $1K, I don't see how 8K resolution would be worth 3 times the price of a 4K monitor.
