The One S does a fine job with 4K, just make sure the One S detects the 4K tv and enables all the features (like HDR if supported).

Right, what matters is the medium the movie was shot on which is loosely related to when it was shot. Just like television that was shot on film transfers very nicely to higher resolutions.
