I went ahead and tried, Staples wouldn't due to my location no where near a MicroCenter, so just an FYI if you don't live near one they ask you to confirm your ZIP via mailing address. Sooooo, was...

Not the greatest but there is IPC gains. The new cpus are clocked lower and are giving higher single core performance

This or the Ryzen 1700x for $230 at microcenter or the 1800x at newegg for $295 (not including potential masterpass for $25 off and the $20 in free gift cards if you got in on the groupon deal)?

Mine came through as $237.19 for some reason, I didn't ask why just gave him my CC number. - EDIT: they have a 110% price match guarantee and that is where the extra discount came from. I pulled...

That's only due to two extra cores for the 8700k and two extra cores for portable dual core 8th gen cpus. No IPC gains, runs hotter, uses more watts, and requires expensive new motherboards as a...

Only reason why people want this is because this chip can be used on both 6th and 7th gen cpu mobos. If you are running i3,5,7-6xxx then your mobo support this 7th chip as well. Just FYI

Pretty much, 8600k has lower temps, lower voltage to OC, OCs farther, clock for clock wins by a few percent. So for the same price I'd pick 8600k

This is my concern with PMing Staples. Does it come with the games? I'm not sure if this is a store thing or an Intel thing. Newegg has the the 7700K with games bundle for $340 so the MC deal is kind...

I'm guessing you meant 6600k, which means you're mostly just missing out on hyperthreading. Your i5 should overclock to reach similar speeds to this i7; probably in the 4.5 to 4.8 ghz range. ...

I have an i5-6500k and GTX 1070. I play all my games at 1440p and have a 144Hz G-Sync monitor. Would I benefit a lot from this upgrade? Enough to justify getting it? I feel like bump in clock speed...

for the high end , coffee lake is the way to go for the top i7 K or non K for those extra cores/threads. Otherwise not really. 7700k would be the better buy because of the similar performance to a...

They should clarify that they won't price match on the actual DATES OF BLACK FRIDAY (THE DAY AFTER THANKSGIVING). There are "Black Friday" sales going on 10 times a year, it's a ridiculous cop-out.

Yeah that was me who posted that. Glad it worked for you, mine came bent in half. Seems like it was 50/50 this time around. Last time they did it more people had success I think. :peace:
