I've seen people post that they sent in a bare shucked drive and got a bare drive back. Probably all depends on the employee that deals with it.. I think it's completely YMMV.

was wondering how strict are WD on RMA for shucked drives? i have a WD drive here i got from ebay that shows as in warranty but also describes it as "MyBook" which makes me think it has been shucked...
