...And that's why those kind of nice perks are going away. The money to repair for people's stupidity doesn't come out of thin air.

That article appears to be misleading. A closed account will stay on your credit report for up to 10 years and continue to count towards average age. After that, it drops off the report and no longer...

I barely use my Discover card as it is and it just got even less appealing. Really the only reason I keep it around is because my credit limit is absurd considering I'm a middle-class working man.

Wow, this is terrible. I'm thinking about dumping Discover, because I barely get 1% cash back even after the categories.

no more extended warranty, when Citi automatically increases manufacturer warranty by 2 yrs (up to a max. of 7 yrs.)? why would anybody use Discover for (non-exclusionary) durable goods? ...

15% of your score is based on the length of your credit history and the oldest card you have should never be cancelled imo. Closing down newer cards has little if any effect on your score in most...

It seems like the 2% cards and such are more popular now. Maybe Discover wants to get into that line but has to toss the benefits in order to afford to offer bigger cashback?

They might as well just close down. The reason a lot of people use Discover is for those benefits. Amex used to be king. Then they fell and Discover replaced them. Now it looks like Discover will...
