It's more dangerous, because it usually means one hand on the work piece, and only one on the saw. 2 hands always better than one when using a circ. Does the average guy have that luxury? Not until...

It's not dangerous if done properly, or certainly no more dangerous than cutting with a side drive skilsaw.

I've been using an old 1975 Skillsaw wormdrive and a couple of 1980/1990 Porter Cable 4" blade worm drive and 7 1/4" leftside blade direct drive with brake. Worm drive oil changes is not a problem...

What I've noticed is this type of saw is often used in a vertical manner - what I mean is the user props lumber up across his foot or something on ground and holds this vertically, cutting downwards...

I just feel like it's a huge downside having to use two hands, especially since I cut across a lot of just 2x4

I don't have this model but a vintage larger worm drive Skilsaw, a huge aluminum sucker. I like the higher torque and it seems more stable. Maybe it's because you're pushing from behind the blade, as...

I've owned this saw for many years (and paid quite a bit more for it, around $180-190) and I would never want another corded circular saw. First allow me to explain why this would be better than a...

The gears/gearbox are quality. Metallurgy is high quality. Parts are serviceable. Top notch quality. For those who use this every other second of their day, it makes a big difference.

Torque. Stronger. More durable. Good for cutting wet lumber, LVL's. Downside is it's heavier.

Worm drives are really just for framers. Unless you are framing homes then the cost weight isn't really worth it. That's why these things have a rafter hook.

I actually would have preferred the Bosch, due to the higher blade speed, and easily serviceable brushes, and the fact that I like my other Bosch tools. However, at the time, this one was $50 more...
