You're in the wrong topic then. The differences is not running the game at all or running modern games with lower graphics. Pick what suits you, GPU can never be upgraded.

Doesn't matter I would rather save $50, have double the ram and ssd than a GTX 960M, at this point the 1050 ti is the minimum for 1080p.

That is a mistake from their end. Thunderbolt 3 has been implemented via Type-C GEN 2 only. GEN 1 does not support TB 3.
