I took a chance and got something better than the Dell for less. I bought an Acer recertified with the exact specs you just mentioned. It was a scratch and dent. Can barely see the scratch.

It looks like say the i5-8250U is a 4 core, 8 thread CPU, vs the i5-7200U being a 2 core 4 thread CPU. So yeah whattya know, twice as many CPU cores processing 2X as many threads is quite a bit...
