So much room to drop in a decent vid card or a nice keyboard and manufacturers do this... why?! Ugh i really like 17" laptops for editing.

The laptop I linked comes with DDR3L 1600MHz. Acer has recent replies in the comments about this (search RAM and you will see them). It will support DDR4. The screen display would be the main reason...

A single 1-egg review. That makes me a bit nervous. Even if reviews are so so I still like to see a number of them at least. Good price but think I will hold out for a laptop using the 8th gen i3.

Yeah - agreed. It probably won't be something for any real processing, but realistically, it'll be for internet browsing, emails, Netflix, and some very light Excel/Word work. i5 should be plenty.

Because a little over one month after my 1 year warranty expired my Aspire tanked and stopped working completely. The ones with iGPUs are fine but these hybrid ones are a toss up.

How does this one compare with the Lenovo 720s on the front page currently, if ultra portability is not a concern?

Seems like a nice value. I don't "need" a new laptop but could use one. Would there be any issues loading Ubuntu or it he Linux on this?

IIRC, it comes with Office 365 trial. It also comes with 1 year Norton antivirus. Beyond that is just a bunch of bloatware.

And that will increase the cost, right? There are plenty 17" laptops with those premium features but they are costly.

I'm telling you don't buy parts when they are in high demand. Wait till next year when the cryptos bust and they are unloading hardware deals like no other. Its gonna be a great time to build a...
