Hard and acidic dont usually go together. Acidic usually goes with low ph. Peat moss will buffer the water to a lower ph, yes. Good for black water fish and those the prefer soft water. Not good...

well i would and do.
nyc tap is slightly hard and acidic
so a few ounces of pete moss does a
natural job balancing things out.
it's either pete, or spend $300 on RO.
