Brand new. Also keep in mind that Denon 4300h was also 799 everywhere around the same time which is a very close cousin to 6012.

I got my 6011 from Best buy last August for $839. Luckily it blew something while going through audessy setup so they replaced it with a brand new 6012 at no extra charge. So I basically got 6012...

You will have to wait longer than that for the price to drop from $1500 to $800. The lowest current price I've seem for a new 6011 (2016 model) from a authorized retailer is $900.
