Anyone wanting to use this (or other TB3) should stick with the cable they come with or be prepared to waste time and money on cables greater than 2m. I just got a TB3 dock and I've purchased various...

Because it looks similar to the one you bought before, it is a bad deal? If you bought a 500GB a couple years ago at $99, the only way was if is was HDD and not an SSD. It also wouldn't have been...

This is a really good deal. People aren't understanding that Thunderbolt 3 is different from USB 3.1 Gen 1 or 2.

Please explain why this is a horrible deal or why you consider it fake. Other Thunderbolt 3 SSDs with PCIe x4 speeds above 1GB/s with prices:...

M.2 NVMe SSD's are routinely showing 2GBps read and 1GBps write speeds (write speeds on MLC flash will throttle after the write cache is exceeded, SLC doesn't have this limitation Samsung 970 EVO vs...

It does, random read/write cycles and overhead/delay. TB3 cables can only work a certain length without a repeater and delay. You really need read up :lmao:

lol, Thunderbolt or USB 3 no impact on ssd speed ....

Thanks for the defence. I think most USB Type-C cables can be used for Thunderbolt, but cable length and active vs passive signalling alter the maximum speed of the connected device. This drive...

Are you trolling? They have external GPU running off of Thunderbolt 3. Also all Thunderbolt 3 cables can be used as a Type-C USB cable but none of the Type-C USB cables can be used as a...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thunderbolt_3 Thunderbolt 3 is up to 40Gbps over a Thunderbolt 3 port, which uses a USB Type-C connector. It is *not* a USB 3 device. This is a Thunderbolt 3 device.

you completely don't understand... USB 3.0 speed can reach to 10 Gbit/s , but USB 3 based drive cannot be the sane speed . Thunderbolt 3 's theorical speed is not SSD speed
Post #115594483 added 05-17-2018 9:14 PM by pagerc in Hot Deals
You clearly are uninformed about Thunderbolt 3 and how it is extending 4 PCIe lanes from the host machine to the device. It is completely reasonable to expect performance as listed. Considering a GTX...

If you're doing video / photo editing, the data can live on this drive and be edited directly. There's no need to have to have a fast internal drive to take advantage of this. People have been...

You would need a 960/970, the newer sandisk/western digital nvme to take advantage of this speed. Otherwise you will be cap at your desktop/laptop internal drive. So no go for most people at this...

the speed is always fake described, no way to be "2.8GB/s read and 1.1GB/s write"
Post #115594079 added 05-17-2018 9:00 PM by pagerc in Hot Deals
This is Thunderbolt 3 and runs at 2.8GB/s read and 1.1GB/s write speeds. That's about 10x faster than SATA III drives which tend to run around 300MB/s read and 100MB/s write.
