Just get an Arris CM8200A (black) off ebay. It's exactly the same thing and activates easily via all major providers needing DOCSIS 3.1 for gig internet.

I would personally go with Arris SB8200 or MB8600. There is lots of research on DSLreports as per performance and what I gathered they are very similar in performance with SB8200 barely performing...

Only if your provider is serving up DOCSIS 3.1 and you have >400Mbps of bandwidth. Otherwise, not so much. The 6183 is rock solid and a far cheaper device for most users.

I'm not sure what specific problems but I believe most of the SB6190 problems stem from the PUMA 6 latency issues a chip which this modem does not have. Most of these profile/software/firmware...

For the 6190 some are considering instead, do not buy. Flawed Intel PUMA chipset. Choose SB6183 instead.
