That’s what I was thinking. I bought one for less than $20 and it walrus fine and looks the same... Don’t know what this does that warrants more money for a simple thermometer.

Unless this thing is made of titanium, I don't see why you'd need to spend that kind of money on a thermometer. I bought one for $12 a year ago and it still works just fine.

Did you ever call thermoworks about it? I dropped mine and cracked the display window. Called in and said they'd fix it and recalibrate it for $25. might be worth checking
