As far as i understand it, you only get 4k from the Apple TV 4k. Even with an imac 5k you won't get it in 4k.

Be aware that the IMAX footage in the digital versions does not come through so the frame rate stays the same the entire time, takes away majorly from the Nolan experience imo.

Isn’t that the same for physical media? If I own a physical copy of one movie in a trilogy and then buy the box set, I don’t expect to get my money back on the one duplicate disc.

Should play on pretty much any apple device. If you have an Apple TV 4K (or any future Apple 4K device), then it will play in 4K.
