They did have that smell, but it wasn't too bad to me. The big drawback I remember is they were perpetually sticky until they picked up every piece of lint and hair in the house.

I had a boglin. They were brilliant. The glow in the dark eyes shifted left and right and you could raise and lower their eyebrows for different facial expressions. Even the box was awesome.
