Not to discount what you're saying, but im also a person of color and generally felt fine in Sydney. It's a pretty international city so they're used to seeing different types of people

You can also try AIRBNB. It's around $30 to $70 a night in fiji. And Aussie is around $50 to $80 a night.

Damn, Fiji and Austrailia - I'm super tempted.... but as a person of color... I'm reminded of all the stories I've heard about the widespread racism in Australia. So for a solo trip... Hard pass.

Haha, I don't have that problem. Almost never staying above 4 star unless it is credit card free night. Anything above 2.5 star is bearable. If have to, will stay anywhere if what I get to see...
