My car has a 120v receptacle (plug) rated for 300w built right into the center console, so I seriously doubt a 12v plug-in 42w car charger is going to be an issue for any modern vehicle. Not sure...

I think most phones top out at 18w via PD unless someone knows different. So no benefit to you to get greater than that unless you want to future proof for a future tablet or laptop that supports...
