You can better fit almost any pre-formed item (steaks, hamburgers, bacon) in a square pan to get more stuff.

At least in my experience, they're less likely to have a raised ridge around the bottom of the underside of the pan, something I've only ever seen on round pans. Flat bottoms are good for induction.
