No added glue. I just peeled rubber strip off on one end to undo the screws, then repeat on the other side. Never really took off the entire strip. By the way, I also upgraded BIOS from f.35 to f.42...

It's a plain vanilla Windows but you can install the HP software from support. If you install the HP Command Center then it still has the "Quiet" option for example - see screenshot.

My bios was f.05!! I updated to f.35 and everything has been good. I have the April Radeon AMD drivers and virtualization enabled. Thing runs great.

Do you happen to know what other remaining issues there are? I haven’t had Radeon cards in decades because of poor drivers. I also read that they hadn’t updated them for mobile Ryzen in over a year.

Instead of using an enclosure you could also us an external hard drive to save an image of the original drive using Acronis True Image or equivalent. The generic steps would be something like this...

I already have a usbM.2 nvme enclosure. It's like $22 on ebay. What I don't have is a usbM.2 sata enclosure. But, It doesn't matter, you can get the whole drive image from hp....
