I had two different DP-to-HDMI adapters that both supposedly supported 4k@60 and HDR, but neither of them worked with the Gigabyte (still got black screen / no output).

H is taller version has a sata port inside. Non-H is slim version only has a m.2 port. Just like BEH and BEK variants in NUC.

The model with H is thicker but supports both m.2 and sata ssd. The model without H only is slimmer and only supports m.2 ssd.

Ehh. If I was in the market for a NUC I'd pass on that. The NUC 7 i5 only has a duo core processor. The NUC 8 is when Intel finally started using quad-core CPUs in their i5's.
