I've had that happen several times, such that I've now taken to making sure I order my lego's along with something else, so they get shipped in a proper box.

In store they rang up at $16. So I ordered them for in-store pickup. Rather than just pull the ones from the shelves they shipped them to the store for me to pick up. Makes sense? I guess?
