Basically the best cordless drill on the market right now, value wise. Even the higher end industrial drills aren't much better. The dcd996b kicks major ass.

The motor does not use brushes. This is a newer technology that they claim is stronger, more powerful, and more energy efficient. It's what you want.

Ditto. I bought this thinking I'd sell my 20V XR kit drill and get a "free" upgrade, but found that this drill is too bulky for many jobs. In a perfect world, I'd have this and a 12V drill.

Yup, I got mine with two 5Ah batteries for $150 on eBay. I just used it earlier today to drill through brick. With the right bit it drills holes like butter.
