I almost bought it with this in mind but several comments saying it goes through batteries too fast turned me off. Maybe I will get a neon sign instead.

It's actually not a bad idea. The battery for the clock is so you don't have to set the time every time you lose power.

While staying in my friend's basement while househunting, I used his Dave & Buster's clock as a nightlight. It wasn't THAT bright. Gave a nice glow so I could see my way to the bathroom.

As a former clock movement importer. These clocks are cheap run forever on batteries. You don’t find a/c electric clocks anymore. Who cares if you have to change the batteries every year and a half.

I'll agree that the setup is dumb bit it is HIGHLY unlikely that this is true neon vs. painted florescent. Go to any bar or liquor store and all of the signs less than 15 years old are painted...
