If more poorer people actually knew about this, it would help them a lot. I live in a very rural area and the closest walmart is 30 miles away. There is a smaller store but prices are a bit pricey....

I have Costco and my membership fee is indeed taxed, Sam's Club charges tax on membership fees as well. Maybe you're fortunate that YOUR state doesn't, but here there is definitely tax.
