I don’t regret buying these but I would not do it again. The trouble is most Mariott’s have no idea how to process these gift cards. They will get it to work eventually but you need to plan at least...

Yeah - same boat here. When I called them, the rep said that it would be more like seven business days. Thus, if you ordered on the 17th, you might see something on the 26th or 27th.

It means when you make a reservation you'll need a valid CC. The GC cannot be used to prepay the room (prepay rates are generally lower than post-pay). That said, you can always change the payment...
