The Pyrex bowl gets hot but not dry if you put liquid in it too. I put it on the rack with handles up and the 1 and 1/4 cups of water in the pot. You probably need liquid in the bowl too because...

Good idea! Does the bottom of pyrex bowl get hot and dry? I used to steam this way and food would stick to the bottom hard. Difficult to clean, too.

I have the 6-Quart. I often do Pot-In-Pot cooking by setting a Pyrex bowl on the rack, then serve the food in the bowl. It saves a lot of cleanup.
