How did it fail if you don't mind me asking and what were the initial signs? Water around the toilet?

the thicker wax rings are the way to go, not sure if the older wax rings have shrunk, years ago I used them and everything was fine, these days I find that the regular wax rings are too thin. Foam is...

Just used one of these not long ago, few months. Toilet drain flange was super old, poorly aligned, below the floor level and possibly not level. The XL wax ring we bought might done the trick but...

I was a non-wax system convert at first - but look at the long-term reliability, the green ones in particular delaminate then absorb liquid and chemical exposure aggravates the delamination. I've...

Agree, there are thicker wax rings available which plumbers have always told me to spend the extra $5 vs. the skinnier wax rings that come with some toilets.

Not sure if this is a good deal, but I only use this product when installing toilets (without the no-cut bolts). Wax rings fail over time and the fluid master version is junk. Never seen or used...

Rubber flange? What kind of toilets have you been installing? Most under $200 will have ceramic base and flange on the floor from cast iron, abs, pvc or stainless ring on a pvc base. Ones with...

Wax is still king... installed properly it'll seal better and outlast anything else on the market today.

I prefer wax ring because if you look at the warning on foam ones, they act like as if you shouldn't clean your toilet with anything but water. I just didn't want to deal with the headache that if I...

The foam ring doesn’t actually fail. It’s usually there is grit and it didn’t not seal. It was not seated properly or the floor is not level and it is unable to seal. It works as well as wax but most...

I used this 3.5 yrs ago for one of my bathroom renovations. Was very easy and is holding up fine. Would definitely recommend it.

I've always used 1 1/2 rings stacked and then silicone caulked the toilet to the floor. Have yet to have one fail yet.

Thanks OP, I'll give this a try. (I tried a foam ring last time... Easy to install, worked great it seems, until it failed after a year or so.)

Wax rings are literally the best solution and fail proof unless seated wrong. I just installed 3 toilets and did use this product, just the version without these special bolts. This still uses wax,...

Thumbs up to this. Foam rings make the job so quick and easy. The only people using wax rings anymore are either cheap landlords or scummy plumbers who want your seals to fail so they get more...

This ring is better than plain wax, but I prefer the Korky foam ring. You can reset as many times as you need to get everything adjusted.

The bolts look solid enough, but stainless steel next to brass in a damp environment? I pity the guy who tries to work on these things in a few years.
