There's an option in the menus to test your TV. Xbox will tell you what features would or wouldn't work with the connected TV. Did you try that?

So after rapid f5 on Nov 10th, I scored an xbox series X. Got it on Wednesday and booted it up on my 299 dollar hisense 65" 4k tv...and boy was I disappointed. Very little difference from my xbox 1...
