This tiny heat gun will not do for starting lump charcoal, it will take forever. What you really need is this thing: https://www.harborfreight.com/propane-torch-with-push-button-igniter-91037.html

No adjustable temp or fan speed. Makes this fairly useless for some of my uses like removing decals. Too bad as I own a lot of DeWalt tools and was interested in buying.

if your willing to pay 80 for this to start the coal on a BGE... you may as well just buy a weed burner or get an electric coal starter for BGE at 20-40.

Check the other sellers and you could still buy it through toolup for $74.12 (a tiny bit cheaper)

Yeah, my Milwaukee corded heat gun pulls 1200 watts at 10amps. I can’t see how a battery operated one could compete with that.

Bought this back in January. Works fine for what I purchased it for (paint stripping) so worth the investment for me. It’s pretty pathetic in terms of temp and blower compared to my $10 corded heat...

I use it a lot of heat shrinking wires. We do a bunch of pixel "christmas lights" and they have to be cut and spliced when you get a bad led. So picture soldering and waterproofing on the top of a...

Overpriced given it only has a Max setting of 990F, only 2 temp settings, and doesn't come with a battery. Home Depot has a furno heat gun with max temp of 1300F and the ability to set temp anywhere...

Truthfully I love this heat gun when I do a quick little vinyl decal job this works great. But on the bigger jobs that’s going to take more then 10-15 min of heat I use a plug-in type.

I’ve used a corded heat gun to start charcoal. Works great. Doubt the battery one would work.

Agree with this... one of the few things I hate about Amazon. Hell, I would do it for $5 assuming I'm heading out somewhere where I could side trip a dropoff for the return. At least for me, amazon...
