8gb is fine, my work PC only has 8Gb where I open many apps at once. It lags a few times when I have large spreadsheet.

Dell has seriously upped their game on the Inspiron line. I remember when they use to be plastic only. Total junk back then but now it looks like they're high quality devices.

should try and get same speed sodimm, capacity is more iffy, I heard if you added a 16gb module for example to an 8gb module, the first 8 gb on each slot is dual channel and the last 8 left over acts...
