Generally, I agree. Spade bits = hand drill for quick & dirty holes, forstners = drill press w/ more precision, clean edges & bottom. I also prefer the Bosch Daredevil style if I need a spade.

Speedbor bits are too aggressive; if the chuck is turning the bit is advancing. Forstener for clean, flat bottom holes. I’ll stick with spade bits for boring holes in studs.

That being said the new style Bosch/Diablo paddle bits are much quicker and provide cleaner cuts then these old style Milwaukee paddle bits.

For $20 it is worth the price. These will always have a place someones tool chest. Yes other options are more expensive, and well worth the price, though good tools occasionally are.
