If you're only making a few star trails and such, the f/1.8 would be fine if the lens is wide enough for your taste. Myself, I think the field is way too narrow for much utility.

Gone in what way? The sensor is great, the focussing can be a bit slow or just wrong in challenging situations. Go for it if $ is tight or the deal is really good.

Well that's just nuts. The 35mm takes a 52mm filter. I use a 49mm Pentax anti-ghosting UV filter, with a step-ups ring, so I'd know.

Can work on full frame if your subject is close enough to minimize the vignette. I don't bother too much by the vignette as I personally like the effect to dim the background and pop the subject in...

I’ll check back (won’t bombard this chain) but the crop was one of the downfalls on my old Nikon, serviceable when it was out but not now for my photo preferences. Way more versatility with full...

The lens in this thread is nice but don't forget that the D3200 is a cropped camera/sensor. So, the 35mm in this thread will give you the focal perspective of a 52.5mm. Portrait lenses are...

Hey thanks so much for spending time on this response. Its been so long that I don’t even remember the camera specs. For this lens it was more of a price thing, $150bux to revive an old camera...

This lens will make any DX Nikon camera you’ve bought from here into a solid portrait camera. Even an old D3100 will shine. I use this with a 2008-made D300 to shoot boxing and college basketball...

This is exactly what I found when I started out with a 50mm lens on my crop DSLR. It was both too wide for outdoors, and too close for indoors. It was just.... awkward.

I started on a D3200 8 years ago and it was a wonderful starter camera. I still recommend it to anyone who’s looking at picking up a cheap DSLR. You can’t use older lenses on it, but a lot of the...

I just got a used D3200 this year. It's OK for a beginner. It's OK if you use it with newer lenses. It's OK with old lenses if you don't need auto-focus. I forget if it does TTL Metering...
