I personally don’t like to put fabric down. It’s a pain to plant in. My beds are changing every year with the perennials as a base and then new annual plantings around them every year.

I've read it's better to use a pre-emergent chemical on the mulch rather than landscape fabric. The reasoning is so the mulch can feed the plants as it deteriorates. Anyone with more experience care...
