0.6A. I tell ya, you'd need an awful lot of LEDs to need a 5A power supply. If the PS were 5A, I'd be ordering me a dozen of these suckers right now instead of the 1 that I bought.

I'm not sure how you plan to install them but if they are running up the side of the stairs and the sensor is pointing down or up no one should trip over anything. Now if you need to run an extension...

If your stairs are straight, if you have the sensor high enough it should pick up motion from both ends.

I've been looking for something for the stairs. I wish they would make one with two sensors, one for each end. Illuminating one side at a time is not ideal as when you get to the end of the stairs...

The problem with these is you can't combine them for a whole room coverage. You would have to plug in multiples. 16' is fairly short if you are looking for anything other that a stairway or just 1...
