It will fit physically, but most 3090s are incompatible with the PSU, requiring three 8-pin power cables whereas this only provides two.

Mine is connected to a NUC which is connected to an external monitor. Works fine but I will try directly connecting to the eGPU to see if it's any better.

As long as you're driving an external monitor from the eGPU it's fine. But there are a fair number of people who try to leverage their laptop screen on these and see some fair performance degradation...
