Thinking it could work for a webcam or action cam where you want something with a smaller footprint than a tripod, but still seems a little pricey just for this use case.

He set the camera up, just supported by the feet. Set the timer, and walked 8 feet away for a family photo. If that thing started tipping, it would have been a very expensive picture.
