As a makita owner of thousands in tools and batteries. Makita is easily the more expensive brand. He should be looking at ryobi/dewalt/milwaukee

Maybe, but you're probably using their higher end stuff, not these entry level brushed tools. I can't be sure if they're the exact ones, but a friend of mine bought a cheap Makita set last year...

I've been using makita professionally for 15 years. They don't have the best lineup but they're stronger than Milwaukee. Just my opinion
