I just ordered a 7700x. But my build is starting from scratch. It sounds like this is a good deal if u just want to update the cpu only and keep everything else you already have.

i think it really depends on your MB. Some 300 series MB might remove support for Ryzen 1000 series CPU to make room for Ryzen 5000 series. and some MB support USB drive update.

I agree with this. 5950X is the highest of the last AM4 socket and this is the processor to stick with 3 to 5 years. I would only make a new box if it's the last processor series for the AM5 socket...
