Right so just buy a 2 prong converter. The 2 outside should be the audio signals and the center is power. Since you dont have noise canceling cans the center pin would be useless.

jeez I don't recall - if anything I'd only get one channel (e.g. R or L). I don't know why (practically) they make the headphones like that. I have a couple of those things kicking around.

Dr. J, Thanks for your reply. On long haul flights I did get headphones with dual prongs. Have you tried using regular 3.5 mm without an adapter?

Not sure how that matters regarding the question I had, my headphones is Audio Technica ATH-M50. It does not come with noise-cancelling so the third port is immaterial.
