IT guy just said they were having small random problems throughout the network, and a simple reset of the router fixed all of it, including the Chrome issue. Very strange, but glad it is taken care...

Very strange. I would just try a reinstall of Chrome, if you have admin rights on the PC. It can't hurt, and might fix the problem.
