Next time just lubricate the new filter gasket with oil while installing. After that I usually unscrew them with my bare hands.

I don't think so. I just wanted the regular Synthetic. Since it's recommended to change out every 3k-5k miles even with synthetic. I wouldn't dream of using it up to the 15k even with the EP.
