It could I suppose, but I think if you're hip shooting, or just investigating a noise with no target yet, most of the stock would be against your side and within your normal body "envelope" anyway

We're an open carry in Ohio, no permit required but you need a concealed license if you take your gun in a motor vehicle with you. That's why I ride a horse everywhere.
