travel is the best way to redeem rewards. if you can get the same rate for cash as with gift cards then it is worth it. a great way to liquidate gc is gifts.

that would work too. since you applied to penfed, you already have 5% gas so you are better off citiforward. either would be fine. with sallie mae you are missing out on entertainment (movies, etc)...
