you pretty much got it right on the dot, once you start upgrading this celron server it kills the deal as you are better off just building a system thats way better this so called celron...

I own both the 7th gen and 8th gen ProLiant Micro server. Paid around $250 for the 7 Gen and about $420 for the 8th. As much as a builder myself, these little servers are hard to beat for the price....

I would personally suggest splitting up the drive bays and case. If you want everything in one unit the HP is hard to beat, but I prefer getting a JBOD enclosure for the drives and then connecting it...

There is nothing "micro" about this server. CPU isnt great. For the same amount you can setup your own itx mini computer the same size and have a much better CPU, double the ram, ect....
