Should be compatible if it's PCI-E.. backward compatible, just lower bandwidth/data rate. Of course any compatibility issues ultimately comes down to the specific HW, but should work.

It's about a 50% performance increase over the 5800k straight up, but you can crossfire AMD GPUs with their APUs for a tiny bit more. If you're gaming at 720p then 1GB will never be a problem and...

Would this work in an older computer that doesn't have v3.0 of PCI-E? Maybe not even PCI-E v2.0? It's a C2D E8400 with ECS GF7050VT-M motherboard (nvidia chipset) currently running a Radeon 6670.
