By default its APM was 128 (which has no spindown) and I was able to set it to 255 with hdparm (disabled APM completely). Again, mine arrived today with cc46

The toshiba can be a toshibia toshibia, a hitatchi toshiba, or a seagate. If its 7200rpm, its a toshibia toshibia. And yes i bought 2 of these samsungs, the toshiba you have to bust every clip on...

The Samsung and Seagate are confirmed to be the same drive. But it appears the Toshiba is a Toshiba. I'll take that bet. Also, the. Seagate in these isn't bad, according to reviews.

I've been getting about 140MB/sec with these drives reading/writing. I don't see any performance problems with using them for archival storage or movies and the like.
