I assume that by home phone line, you mean Xfinity Voice. You have to have a modem that has a telephony adapter which the Netgear modem you purchased does not. If you want to use the Netgear modem...

I flashed my TP-link Archer C7 with DD-WRT and it works beautifully!

I'm having the same issue. In fact, it was showing up as individual pricing for a total of $216.xx. Now it's consistently $164. Frustrating.
