I have been a halo fan since 1, but this campaign flat out sucked. I want to play as chief not a bunch of spartans with their annoying COD banter the whole time. Live is meh too, really boring...

Nope, not for me. When I'm done playing I make sure to quit the game. Then turn my live back on. I don't know if this works for everyone or not but has for me

I keep mine online and only turn it off when I play Fallout 4, and I still have it.
I did turn off automatic updates, I don't know if that matters or not.
