You have to buy METCAL to get HDMI. Both models are OK but neither are that high quality. Don't confuse Weller's GOOD stuff with the WESD51 or this mid range HAKKO. Both companies as well as...

I use both rosin core solder and standalone flux when I solder, so you're not alone. As far as cleaning the tip goes, try using copper scouring pads instead of a wet sponge I put some inside of an...

If it suits your needs, then the answer is nothing. However, an adjustable temperature soldering iron has a much wider range of use. For example, the recommended iron tip temperature for Kester 44...

The secret of quality soldering is constant temperature at the iron's tip: not too low and not too high. Cheap irons will overheat most of the time. This Hakko has a temp. sensor (a thermocouple)...

They can be filed to clean up the oxidation. Also replacement tips are available. I may be old fashioned, but I use solid rosin flux when soldering. It cleans the tips surface, but you end up...

It's very comparable. I've used both and liked both equally. However Weller costs $120. You will require a new soldering tip at some point in the future. Weller tips are available...
